Summary

In the Balmus Lab, we study DNA repair in the brain.

Project aims

The Lab has consistent projects in a few areas, including DNA repeat modifiers in Huntington's Disease, modifiers of TDP43 aggregation in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, and the role of DNA repair in Parkinson's Disease.

We also study the particular role of DNA repair in normal physiology, including the importance of extra-nuclear DNA in activating innate immunity, as well as the naked molerat, a model for healthy ageing.

Projects in all these areas are available.
